Increased risk donors are deceased donors who engaged in behaviors that increase their chances of having Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.
Organs that come from increased risk donors have a greater chance of passing HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C to organ transplant recipients than organs from donors who did not engage in high risk behaviors.
Your decision about whether or not to accept an increased risk donor organ can affect your health and quality of life.
